A current habit that has been bringing me joy is my morning walks around my neighborhood.
I’ve always loved being outdoors—walking, hiking, anything that gets me moving under the open sky. But over the last year or so, I slowly stopped. That is, until about two weeks ago, when I stepped outside to head to the gym. I felt a cool breeze and said to myself, “I’ll walk instead today.”
Since that morning, I’ve been walking two miles every day before work—faithfully. No headphones, just me, my thoughts, and nature.
It’s become the best way to start my day: I get in some movement, clear my head, and calm my nervous system. I thank God for putting it on my heart to walk that day—it’s wild to say, but I feel like I’ve gotten back a part of myself I didn’t realize I lost.
