Just Wear the Swimsuit

Just Wear the Swimsuit

I spent more time thinking about wearing the swimsuit than I did actually wearing it.

Before this trip, I told myself all the usual things. I should lose a little more weight first. My stomach should be flatter. Maybe next vacation I’ll feel more confident.

But vacation has a funny way of putting things into perspective.

Standing on the beach, I looked around and realized nobody was paying attention to me the way I was paying attention to myself. People were swimming, laughing, relaxing, and making memories with the people they loved. No one was keeping score. No one was measuring worth by a waistline.

The truth is, life doesn’t pause while we work on ourselves.

We don’t get this summer back. We don’t get this vacation back. We don’t get this exact version of ourselves back.

That doesn’t mean we stop pursuing our goals. It doesn’t mean we stop trying to become healthier, stronger, or more confident. It simply means we stop postponing our lives until we arrive.

For so long, I believed joy was waiting on the other side of weight loss. What I’m learning is that joy is available today.

So I wore the swimsuit.

I got in the water.
I took the pictures.
I made the memories.

And I’m so glad I did.

Sometimes the best thing we can do is stop overthinking and start living.

Sometimes we just need to wear the swimsuit—and give ourselves permission to live fully, exactly as we are

Before you go, ask yourself:

What part of your life have you been putting on hold until you feel more confident, more successful, more healed, or more ready?

Maybe it’s not a swimsuit. Maybe it’s a trip, a photo, a new opportunity, or simply allowing yourself to enjoy the season you’re in.

Whatever it is, consider this your reminder:

Life is happening right now.

Don’t wait to become someone else before you give yourself permission to live.
