A Weekend in New York: What I Wore & Where I Went

Hey luvs,

There’s something magical about New York in the summer—the energy, the chaos, the style. I recently spent a few days soaking up the city and wanted to give y’all a quick recap of what I wore, what I did.

Let’s jump into the looks, because your girl didn’t come to play…

Look 1: Bold and Sporty

A person stands in a hotel hallway wearing red striped pants and a white open-front top, paired with a red LA cap. The setting features modern decor with soft lighting.

Okay but let’s talk about this fit. These red striped pants had me feeling like the main character! Paired them with a breezy white open-front top and a red LA cap representing my city & giving a sporty edge. I loved how playful this look felt—laid back but still put together.

Vibe: Sporty spice meets rooftop cocktails
Where: Drinks + catching views went to Peaches Restaurant in Brooklyn one of the last black owned restaurants still in Brooklyn

Look 2: Denim Dreams in Dumbo

A woman poses confidently in a sleeveless denim cut-out dress with Brooklyn's Manhattan Bridge in the background. The scene captures the lively atmosphere of Dumbo, New York City, with people dining and walking around.

Nothing says NYC like denim with the Manhattan Bridge in the background. I wore this sleeveless denim cut-out dress with chunky matching sandals—comfortable enough for walking but still giving body and shape. Accessorized with minimal jewelry, and sunnies for that soft city-girl glam.

Vibe: Effortlessly chic

Look 3: Casual Cool for the Day Out

A person standing in front of a mirror, wearing a blue printed one-piece shirt and white sneakers. The background features a colorful artwork on the wall and some personal belongings on a shelf.

For walking and brunching, I went full-on comfy-cute. This blue printed shirt one piece gave vacation energy with zero effort. Threw on my white dad sneakers and retro white sonnies, and boom—ready to vibe.

Vibe: Easy, breezy tourist mode

Look 4: Satin After Dark

A person taking a selfie in a black satin dress with a lace-up detail, standing in front of a mirror with a decorative background. The setting features teal upholstered chairs and artistic wall design.

Babes Birthday Dinner fit? Secured. This black satin dress with lace-up detail was chef’s kiss. The lighting in the restaurant mirror didn’t hurt either. Paired it with rose-detailed heels that added just the right amount of soft femininity to this bold look.

Vibe: Date night drama he loved it!
Where: Dinner at a vibey upscale spot food wasn’t the best but the drinks and the company was great!

When in doubt, black satin always understands the assignment. I always travel with a black dress in my luggage.

New York always brought out the best in my wardrobe—I forces you to dress with intention. Whether I was walking the Brooklyn streets or toasting under moody lights, I felt like myself in every look. I didnt get to wear all my looks but the ones I did wear we executed exactly how I wanted.

Which fit was your fave? Drop it in the comments.
And if you’re planning a trip, my one tip: pack for comfort and confidence. You deserve both.

Xo, Kieks
