The Art of Everyday Love

Small Gestures That Mean Everything

Valentine’s Day is here, love is in the air. Everywhere you look, there are roses, chocolates, and grand displays of affection.

Scrolling through social media on Valentine’s Day and the day after, seeing women being showered with love and affection, is a guilty pleasure of mine the proposals, are my absolute favorite!

But as beautiful as those moments are, the truth is that love doesn’t live in the spotlight. It thrives in the quiet, everyday moments—the small, unspoken acts that weave our lives together.

When I think about love, I don’t think about elaborate candlelit dinners or surprise vacations. Instead, I think about the mornings when my partner takes my car to the car wash without me having to ask. I think about the time my best friend drove across town to sit with me on a tough day or when my mom left me a note saying she was proud of me. These moments may seem insignificant to the outside world, but they are the heartbeat of love.

The Little Things That Matter

Love often hides in the smallest details of our lives. It’s in the way someone remembers how you take your tea or the way they listen to your favorite story, even if they’ve heard it a dozen times. It’s in holding the door open, sending a quick “How’s your day going?” text, or sharing a comfortable silence on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

One of my favorite examples of everyday love happened during a particularly chaotic week. My partner noticed I was overwhelmed, so without saying a word, he said don’t worry about dinner tonight go relax I will grab us something to eat. It wasn’t flashy, but it felt like a warm hug after a long day. Love doesn’t need a grand stage; sometimes, it’s just about showing up and being there for each other.

Love in All Its Forms

While Valentine’s Day often highlights romantic love, it’s worth remembering that love comes in many forms. There’s the deep, unconditional love of family, the comforting and joyful love of friendship, and even the vital, healing love we show ourselves.

If I were still home, I would be planning a Galentine’s with my core friend group. We’d gather for a night in or out, complete with a delicious dinner, Valentine’s-themed cocktails, and endless laughter. To me, that’s just as special as any romantic evening because it celebrates the deep, meaningful bonds of friendship.

How to Celebrate Everyday Love

This Valentine’s Day, why not celebrate the small, meaningful gestures that show love in its purest form? Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  1. Write a note: Leave a short, heartfelt message for someone you love. Whether it’s a sticky note on the fridge or a text, it’s sure to brighten their day.
    • Example, write, ‘I hope your day is as amazing as you are!’ and stick it where they’ll find it unexpectedly.
  2. Offer your time: Spend quality time with someone you care about, doing something they love. It could be as simple as taking a walk together or watching their favorite show.
    • Example: Watching his football game or watching housewives with her.
  3. Be thoughtful: Do something small but meaningful, like preparing their favorite meal, organizing their space, or bringing them a little treat just because.
    • Example – My Partner brings back my favorite chocolate anytime he goes to the grocery store.
  4. Express gratitude: Take a moment to say “thank you” for the little things your loved ones do every day. Acknowledging their efforts shows that you notice and care.
    • Example- A simple text saying than you for making my morning smoothie every day.

Love Is in the Everyday

When the roses wilt and the chocolates are gone, what remains is the everyday love that sustains us. It’s not always loud or obvious, but it’s there—in the laughter shared over a silly joke, in the support offered during tough times, and in the small gestures that say, “I see you, and I care.”

This Valentine’s Day, let’s celebrate those moments. Let’s honor the simple, beautiful ways we show and receive love every single day. Because in the end, those small gestures mean everything.

I am truly grateful to experience love everyday Love I never have to question. Each day, my person chooses me, just as I choose him.

HAPPY LOVE DAY!

XO, KIEKS
