A leader is the one in the charge, the person who convinces other people to follow. A great leader inspires confidence in other people and moves them to action. A leader is the head guy or gal, the one running the show.
By Definition I do not consider myself a leader nor do I consider myself a follower. When in the position to lead I can. When in the position to follow I can as well.
If I were to lead, I would want to lead by example. I would use my experiences to help others on their journey through life wherever I can.
I believe a leader should also be a learner. I love to learn from others by listening to the past stories. I also listen to their current situations and the future dreams. Applying what I have learned to my life as needed.
Leading by example
On my spiritual journey, I often use this as an example how God led me to church every Sunday. It did not matter what I did the night before everyone knew where I was at 8am the next morning. I did not have strong faith but for some reason I was there faithfully. This is how I began my journey with God.
When my daughter was younger, she didn’t want to go to church, and I wouldn’t force her. I would just say to her it is not time yet. But when it is time, you will know just like I did. Now, she goes to church and has been baptized again. About a year ago she said to me, “Mom, thank you for not forcing me. Thank you for allowing me to find him on my own. I always remember you telling me this would happen.”
Learning
I would use my aunt in love (my partner’s aunt). She is a spiritual woman. She often speaks to my spirit, not even knowing how much I need it at times. I recently had an accident that could have taken my life. Since the accident, I have been thanking God and feeling so grateful. When she spoke to me she said God was in that situation with you that day. Some may think, well you knew that. Yes, I did. But those words hit me hard. They then gave me so much peace. I didn’t understand before as much as I did after. I realized that God not only saved me, but he was there with me. He still has purpose for me. She was an example for me in that moment. That small sentence taught me to continue to draw from my faith every day.
