Meet Karen Cemone

Meet Karen Cemone aka The Drunken Artist Multifaceted acrylic paintress located in Atlanta, GA.

I found an interest in a Art during my eighth year of life in the third grade with the lovely Mr. Ferry (rest his soul), who taught at Weemes Elementary in Los Angeles, California. Mr. Ferry was giving a lecture and I was sketching, I didn’t know at the time that what I was doing was special. Truth is I was bored during the class and needed outlet to remain sane. I sat in front of the class, so it was obvious that I wasn’t paying attention. Mr. Ferry didn’t appreciate that lack of awareness so he stopped the class, walked over to me and grabbed my book. I swear all the time that he was just about to be upset until he looked at the picture, looked at me and asked, “Is this me?”, I replied, “Yes”. Instead of offense he found what took me years to discover within myself.

In consultation to that moment, I had to draw the faces of the students after class for not being present. I made it to the second face and tapped out. After all, that was my first time sketching. Mr. Ferry later referred me to an art program in the school but my craft was short lived as I didn’t know faith when I got faced with reasons to quit.

Throughout the years I battled with this potential, but still I made time for what could be. In the past few years I engaged in business, construction, started a skin care line and bartended. Art was always there I consistently found myself buying tools to create something, anything that would grace my mind to put on paper.

Let’s just say… all of the trials and errors in my experience has led me right back in Mr. Ferry’s front class with a pencil and notepad.

In November 2019 I committed myself to being consistent in something that will navigate the rest of my life.

My paintings are currently featured in business offices and homes. I am currently in the works of multiple streams of opportunities in my life that include fashion, music and healing which all tie into my artistry. I am looking forward to gaining a team of people who will stand with me in this journey of telling stories of a series of events that has taken place in my life. I had to give myself another chance. I needed something to give me a reason to exhale. Taking this route has inspired me to engage in self control and has given me a sense of my purpose and I’m here to share it with those who have the senses to begin to understand what sometimes can’t be understood.

“These days I’m working on a series, A night with Karen I’m excited to share when it’s finished.”
